NFL: Niners shock: Cruciate ligament rupture at Jimmy G?

The San Francisco 49ers season is in shock. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo had to leave the game against the Kansas City Chiefs with a potentially fatal knee injury. Team’s afraid of a cruciate ligament rupture.

San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed after the game that the team fears a cruciate ligament rupture at Garoppolo. The 26-year-old was injured in a scramble on the left side of the field when his left knee bent inwards in an attempt to change direction.

If the fears are confirmed, Garoppolo would be out for the rest of the season. A fatal setback for the 49ers, who only signed the quarterback via Trade with the New England Patriots in the pre-season and made him the most expensive quarterback in the league this off-season.

Garoppolo will undergo an MRI on Monday to determine the severity of the injury. However, the doctors’ assessments of this injury are usually correct and the pictures of the injury also indicate this.

By the time of injury, Garoppolo had completed 20 of his 30 pass attempts and two touchdowns against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Niners lost the game and are at 1-2.
