In the last few days, the Miami Heat have been among the teams that fought hardest for Jimmy Butler of the Minnesota Timberwolves. According to the Miami Herald, there are also independent of Butler Trades at the Heat.
For example, Miami is said to have made Hassan Whiteside, Tyler Johnson and Dion Waiters available during the summer. Especially for Whiteside (25.4 million dollars) and Johnson (19.2 million), however, it should be difficult to find customers in view of the high salary.
For Butler this trio would probably not be enough anyway, but Justise Winslow could also be available for the right offer – the Swingman will be Restricted Free Agent next summer and so far both sides are far apart regarding a contract extension.
During the offseason there had already been speculation that Goran Dragic might be available for the right offer. However, Miami is determined to keep Josh Richardson and Bam Adebayo, and Kelly Olynyk also continues to play a role in Heat’s plans.
Miami reached the playoffs last season with a 44-38 balance, but were eliminated in round one against the Sixers. In the coming season the Heat are among the most expensive teams and are now paying around 25 million dollars in luxury tax.
