Fredy Bickel has no easy life in Vienna at the moment. In addition to the sporty turbulences, the managing director of SK Rapid also has to deal with personal attacks.
For example, his car has been the victim of vandals several times. “The tyres on my car have already been punctured three times,” confirms Bickel, looking at the Swiss. But that’s not all. “It’s just as annoying as the ringing terror at night. It’s already happened,” adds the 53-year-old.
So far, however, he has not filed a complaint. “It’s not beautiful, but I don’t want to dramatize it,” explains Bickel. “I don’t even know if they’re Austria fans or our own fans,” he has to admit.
However, Bickel does not see these incidents as a threat. “I really like it here in Vienna, can’t complain. Except we’re missing points.”
Bickel says Rapid is special. “This club doesn’t leave anyone cold in Austria. He has the most fans, and whoever is against him is right,” says Bickel, who was warned against his engagement in Hütteldorf. “Adi Hüter told me before I took office: ‘If you survive Rapid, you survive everything’, he reveals.
