NBA: Track rookie fails for months on end

Lonnie Walker IV has suffered a meniscus rupture in her right knee in the preseason game against the Detroit Pistons and will have to undergo surgery on Monday. This was announced by San Antonio Spurs in a press release.

As Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN also reports, the 18th pick of this year’s draft will be missing for about six to eight weeks.

The 19-year-old had already suffered a meniscus rupture in his right knee at college, but came back very strongly from the injury.

With an average of 11.5 points and a throwing rate of 48.7 percent for the University of Miami, he played his way into the favour of the Spurs. As many teams were deterred by Walker IV’s medical records, he fell to 18th position in the draft to the Texans.
