Alpine Skiing: Kristoffersen: “I’m faster than last year”

Norway’s ski star Henrik Kristoffersen is looking forward to the coming season with confidence, as he feels better than in the previous season. And that’s despite the fact that he was compromised by an injury.

In summer Kristoffersen had contracted a fracture of the big toe on her left foot. Running and jumping exercises, otherwise part of the standard training program, fell flat due to pain.

However, this had no negative impact on the performance on the piste. “Despite the injury, I haven’t missed a single day of skiing,” the 24-year-old told Norwegian TV station NRK.

He is even “faster than last year,” says Kristoffersen. Offensive words of the man, who so often and partly only had to admit defeat to Marcel Hirscher by a hair’s breadth. The Norwegian’s statement can therefore also be understood as a hint in the direction of the ÖSV signboard.

In order to be able to put even more pressure on him in the fight for the overall World Cup, technical specialist Kristoffersen is increasingly including speed races in his programme.

“For the coming season I have Bansko, Kvitfjell and the final in Are in mind,” he reveals. “I’m looking forward to the speed races, even though I’ll probably be a little nervous in the first races. But at some point I’ll be able to collect points on the slopes that are relatively technical, but not really crazy.”
