Chris Sale left the hospital. The left-hander of the Boston Red Sox is supposed to fly to the team in Houston in the course of Tuesday, after he had suffered from abdominal pain.
However, it is not yet clear when he will pitch again. “First he needs to get here and then we’ll see how he feels,” said manager Alex Cora. “It’s about more than the Red Sox, it’s about the person.”
But Cora also said, “From what I’ve heard, he should be fine. It’s all about him getting here, then we’ll talk to him and see how he’s doing physically. And then we’ll see.”
Sale went to the Massachusetts General Hospital on Sunday with a stomach ache and stayed there overnight for observation, therefore did not fly with the team on Monday to Houston, where on Tuesday match 3 of the American League Championship Series against the Astros (serial standings: 1-1) begins.
Whether Sale will be able to pitch 5 on Thursday according to plan is still unclear. He had already started game 1 (4 IP, 2 ER).
