MLB: Milwaukee & L.A. reenact cult 80s film

The Milwaukee Brewers and Los Angeles Dodgers have revived the film classic “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” in the run-up to match 3 of the National League Championship Series together with the broadcasting TV station FOX. They took the start of the almost homonymous pitcher Walker Buehler as an opportunity.

The intro to the FOX broadcast on Monday evening reenacted the famous scene from the film from the 80s, in which the teacher, who was also played this time by Ben Stein, went through the attendance list, only to discover that “Bueller, Bueller, Bueller …” was not present.

Previously, the clip featured a few players from both teams, including Christian Yelich from the Brewers and Yasiel Puig from the Dodgers. FOX reporter Ken Rosenthal then finally relieves the teacher in the nerd style and explains that Buehler is warming up in the bullpen to pitch immediately.

Meanwhile, the clip enjoyed great popularity in the social media.

The German title of the 1986 film is “Ferris macht blau” with Matthew Broderick in the leading role. Later Hollywood greats such as Jennifer Grey, Alan Ruck and Charlie Sheen also took part.
