NBA: Nance Jr. stays with the Cavs for the long term

As the Cleveland Cavaliers have stated in a statement, Larry Nance Jr. has signed a long-term contract extension in Ohio. The 25-year-old is therefore bound to the franchise until 2022.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the new contract is a four-year contract endowed with 44.8 million dollars.

According to the sources of the ESPN reporter, Nance Jr. earns $12.7 million in the first year of the contract, after which the annual salary decreases slightly. In this way, the cavs ensure that they have more flexibility under the salary cap in the future. Kevin Love’s contract has a similar structure.

“We are very pleased that Larry will stay in a Cavs jersey for the long term,” commented General Manager Koby Altman on the signature of the Big Man. “His athleticism, his positive attitude and, most importantly, his will to stay in Cleveland embody everything we expect from our players.”

Nance Jr. spent the first two and a half years of his career with the Los Angeles Lakers before being traded to Cleveland last season. In 2017/18 he averaged 8.9 points and 7 rebounds.
