The Titans hope to find their way back on track in the second London Game. In the Bears, their most important player is threatening to drop out against New England, of all places, while in the Bills and Dolphins, they have to play backup quarterbacks. The Eagles want to get going, the Jaguars want to forget the week before. In Baltimore in the evening the best defense receives the best offense of the league. From 19 o’clock on Sunday you can watch all games in the complete RedZone conference live on DAZN as usual.
Bye-Week: Packers, Raiders, Seahawks, Steelers.
Result: 10:45 (3:35) BOXSCORE
Recap: Cardinals experience debacle! Broncos finish their series of defeats
After the Seahawks’ blowout victory over the Raiders, the Titans and Chargers will be playing their second London Game of the season this week – and given the results of the previous week, the next class difference seems anything but impossible. After the brutal bankruptcy against the Ravens the week before, Marcus Mariota and the Titans-Offense have to flip the switch as fast as possible.
Given the huge problems in the Blitz pickup (eleven sacks approved last week) and the continuing concern about Mariota, who still seems to have not regained full power in his right hand, it’s definitely convenient for Tennessee that Star Pass Rusher Joey Bosa on the Chargers side continues to drop out and won’t be able to join the team until after Bye Week at the earliest. Meanwhile, the Titans will apparently have to do without Guard Quinton Spain. The budgeted starter is suffering from a shoulder injury.
The Chargers can travel to London with confidence. Recently Philip Rivers and Co. celebrated two clear victories in a row, the only defeats of the current season it set against the top teams of the Rams and Chiefs. For Los Angeles, the atmosphere in London could also be a good change of pace. In recent weeks, even at home matches of the Chargers, more supporters of the opposing team have been coming in on a regular basis.
A meeting of two absolute top units awaits us in Chicago! The absolute Offense Defense summit will take place this week in Baltimore, but with Bears Defense and Patriots Open, we can look forward to a showdown between two outstanding teams. While New England had already proved their firepower against the Chiefs in the week before, the Bears will be back after a disappointing performance against the Dolphins. Especially in the open-field tackling, Chicago revealed weaknesses previously unknown against an offense led by Brock Osweiler.
The fact that with Khalil Mack (Knuckle) the best and probably most important player of the Bears threatens to drop out in the game against Tom Brady, of all players, helps only little. It would be a bitter loss for the landlords without question, especially as Mack’s direct opponent Marcus Cannon will not be able to play due to a concussion.
On the other side of the ball, the question remains: How good is Mitch Trubisky? The 24-year-old has thrown nine touchdowns and only one interception over the past two weeks, but he still didn’t always seem to have a firm saddle. The Patriots defence, which has already caused problems for Patrick Mahomes for at least a half, could be a dangerous test. Especially since with Allen Robinson (strip) perhaps the best Bears receiver threatens to fail.
Observers had expected it, now it has actually happened. Josh Allen’s hurt. The Bills quarterback had been exposed to a lot of hard tackles with a lot of partly wild scrambles, against the Texans the rookie got an elbow wessur and dropped out at least for this week. After the next bad drop-out, which even cost Buffalo the victory against the Texans, Nathan Peterman is not allowed to start. Derek Anderson, who was only hired last week as mentor for Allen, will lead the Bills on the field.
Over the first six weeks Buffalo scored the fewest points and the fewest passing yards per game, so the offense can hardly get any worse with Anderson. With the Colts, which allow as one of only three teams legaweit at least 30 points per game, the veteran gets an at least theoretically grateful matchup at the beginning.
After the disappointing Shootout defeat against the Jets, the Colts now absolutely need the victory over the Bills in order not to count completely to the bottom of the league. In any case, it is encouraging that Wide Receiver TY Hilton will celebrate its comeback. “Without 100 percent, I’m still better than most with 100 percent,” he says confidently. But Andrew Luck will have to renounce Tight End Jack Doyle (hip) again. Wide receiver Ryan Grant could also fail.
Brocktober in Miami! After his season debut, in which he threw for 380 yards, Brock Osweiler is allowed to start against the Lions for a second time in a row for the Dolphins. Ryan Tannehill drops out again due to shoulder problems. Against the Bears, Miami once again benefited from Big RAC plays. However, it remains to be seen to what extent the team will be able to constantly create these plays.
Defensively the Dolphins can be happy about a comeback of Cameron Wake. The Pass-Rusher was out last due to a knee injury, but was able to complete parts of the training during the week. On the Lions side, Guard TJ Lang returns to the team after a concussion. Running Back Theo Riddick (knee) will fail again.
Defensively, it will be interesting to watch how head coach Patricia turns his team’s defensive screws over Bye Week. Detroit disappointed over the first weeks here, especially in the run defense, over long distances. With the Dolphins and their running back duo Frank Gore and Kenyan Drake she now receives one of the better Rushing teams of the league.
