In the spectacular 133:132 overtime victory of the Detroit Pistons over the Philadelphia 76ers, Andre Drummond was sent off in the fourth quarter of the field after a wrangling with Joel Embiid. Afterwards Embiid added verbally.
“I have the feeling that I’m quite widely represented in his head,” Embiid said to journalists after the narrow defeat. In the last minute of the regular playing time he provoked a technical foul for Andre Drummond – the second for the center, which had to leave the parquet thereupon.
“Embiid described the trash talk with Drummond. “I think the referees said sometime, the next one got a technical foul, and then he got it.”
“We lost, so I shouldn’t be doing trash talk, but he knows pretty well that he can’t defend me,” the Cameroonian continued. The Embiid Drummond feud dates back to last year, when Embiid blasphemed about the defense and shooting of the Pistons Center.
His response to Embiid’s recent comments was not long in coming. On Twitter, the 25-year-old wrote: “Really? If he was, he wouldn’t have been so happy I had to leave. That’s a stupid statement. I’ll take the win, enjoy the flight home, actor.”
Drummond had 14 points and 16 rebound up to his ejection, but had problems with efficiency (6/20 FG). Embiid, on the other hand, scored 33 points, 11 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 blocks at 11 out of 20.
