Alpine skiing: ÖSV blocks critical journalists

The giant women’s slalom in Sölden opens the doors to the winter circus again. As expected, the French Tessa Worley won, but the Austrian Ski Association is the topic of conversation.

It seems to be clear that the ÖSV is in a sorry state when it comes to coming to terms with the past regarding sexual assaults (Der Spiegel reported) after last week’s coach release. Now the successful ski association is causing another sensation. At the press conference of the ÖSV a critical journalist was locked out, as a tweet of a reporter of the Süddeutsche Zeitung confirmed.

However, some reporters declared their solidarity and left the room as signs. The protest was successful, but the locked out journalist was finally allowed to participate. Such methods are strikingly reminiscent of the media handling of US President Donald Trump. And he really shouldn’t be a role model for the Austrian Ski Association.
