NBA: Warriors tremble to victory at curry record

The Golden State Warriors (6-1) have mastered their compulsory task at the Brooklyn Nets (2-4), at the end with a slight wiggle, and won with 120:114 (BOXSCORE). The outstanding man was Stephen Curry, who scored at least five threes in a row in the seventh game, setting an NBA record.

Stephen Curry is the man of the hour at the Warriors and the chef started again right away. The first two threes went immediately through the cage, but the hosts were in no way inferior. Brooklyn himself was hot early in the morning and let it rain properly from a distance. Especially Caris LeVert (10 points in the first quarter) turned up in the first quarter, pulled aggressively to the basket and also the jumper looked very good.

The Warriors-Offense consisted at first almost only of Curry and Kevin Durant, who together had already scored 24 points and nevertheless the Nets were only three points behind after twelve minutes (29:32). The reservists (together with Klay Thompson) of the champion were able to get a first small cushion. Especially Thompson had a good hand from the middle distance and was now more involved in the attacks.

Curry came back on the field after his break and the three-man was still there. So the lead grew bit by bit, the Nets slowly lost the connection. Shortly before the break Curry (already 24 points) had his record. For the seventh time in a row, the Guard had sunk at least five triples, which had never happened before in the NBA. With a 49:63 lag the Nets were still well served during the break.

After that the Warriors (and Curry) cooled down a bit, but Brooklyn couldn’t really make use of this and so the gap from Nets point of view remained constant in the double digits. The Dubs now sought their luck more with drives and pulled some fouls, which resulted in slight points. LeVert and Russell tried a lot, but Golden State never lost control.

Towards the end of the third quarter, the Warriors seem to have made the preliminary decision when they were given important role-playing productions by Jonas Jerebko and Alfonzo McKinnie and increased their lead to 19 points. Brooklyn came a bit closer, as now one trio after the other went through the cage. Golden State began to wobble and three minutes before the end there were suddenly only four points left for the visitors.

D’Angelo Russell even reduced the distance to two points by drive, but Durant had the right answer from the middle distance, before Curry finally got the Dagger one minute before the end (115:108). Joe Harris could have reduced the score to one a few seconds before the end, but his threesome just clapped the ring and the Dubs brought the game home from the line.

For the Warriors, Curry (35, 7/15 three) was the top scorer, while Durant (34, 11/20 FG) was the top scorer in the final section. Thompson (18) and Draymond Green (8, 13 assists, 5 steals) also contributed their share to the success. The surprise of the Warriors, however, was McKinnie, who was very committed and scored a good 9 points.

For Brooklyn, LeVert (23) was the most conspicuous player, with D’Angelo Russell scoring 25 points and 6 assists (5 TO). The Nets were the main reason for the champion’s late late strike, as the triumvirate fell brilliantly. A full 20 out of 42 attempts went through the fish trap.
