The Austrian Ski Association (ÖSV) will add to the World Cup giant slalom of the alpine skiers on 20 December in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, which was cancelled on Sunday in Sölden due to fresh snow and drifting snow.
For the ski masters this means that they have a dense racing calendar with six races in nine days at four different locations before the Christmas holidays. After the speed competitions on the 14th and 15th in Val Gardena, we go to Alta Badia, where a giant slalom and a parallel giant slalom are scheduled (16th and 17th).
This is followed by a detour to Salzburg and the return of the technicians to Italy for the slalom on 22 December in Madonna di Campiglio (ITA).
ÖSV President Peter Schröcksnadel explained that as an association you only get a certain number of races each year, but that this is “considerably” less than the desired number.
“That’s why it’s so important for us to have all the dates so that the fans have the chance to see their idols live. Every failure means the loss of advertising for us, of course.”
