The telekom Baskets Bonn won with 83:79 at Fribourg Olympic and climbed to fourth place in the Champions League Group B. Ludwigsburg and medi Bayreuth, on the other hand, suffered further defeats.
After catching up with the Swiss club from Fribourg, the Bonn team still won. The Rhinelanders left last place in Group B with two successes and two bankruptcies.
The hosts dominated the first run (21:14) and extended their lead to eight points during the break. The Bundesliga team, led by Ra’Shad James and Charles Jackson, came back and shortened to 57:62 by the end of the third quarter.
In the final section, coach Predrag Krunic’s team turned the game around. Top scorers in the Baskets were James (18 points), Jackson (16) and Bojan Subotic (16).
A disappointing evening for Ludwigsburg: Coach John Patrick’s team only lost to the Polish champions in the final quarter and thus remain without a win.
The Bundesliga club are now in Group A with four defeats after four matches on the last place in the table.
But at the beginning it looked like the first victory. The strong Malcolm Hill, with 31 points the final top scorer of the evening, led the team and so they came after ten minutes to a 28:19 lead – at the break it was against Poland again strengthened but only 47:44.
In the final quarter, the guests dressed up noticeably, decided the fourth round clearly with 26:14 for themselves and secured the victory.
The Upper Franconians lost the fourth game in a row. In the first quarter (19:19) the guests were close to the lead, at the break the Italians led with 34:31.
But Bayreuth showed a strong reaction and came to a 40:36 lead, but after the fourth foul against David Stockton Bologna took over again, until captain Bastian Doreth threw a 51:51 equalizer shortly before the end of the quarter.
In the final quarter, Virtus scored five points and Stockton finished after his fifth foul. The people of Bayreuth ran after a backlog and could no longer come close decisively.
