NFL: Trade! Rams find their Pass-Rusher

The Los Angeles Rams have addressed their largest construction site to the trade deadline: L.A. and the Jacksonville Jaguars agreed on a trade from Dante Fowler.

The Jaguars who selected Fowler in 2015 with the Third-Overall-Pick will receive a 2019 third-round and a 2020 five-round pick in return. According to NFL network insider Ian Rapoport, Jacksonville had originally demanded a two-round pick, but apparently no team wanted to pay this high price.

For the rams, who continue their aggressive all-in approach with this trade, the 24-year-old Fowler could close an urgent construction site: L.A. has the best interior rush duo of the NFL with Aaron Donald and Ndamukong Suh, but the Edge-Rush was still sickly.

Fowler was a draft bust in Jacksonville and could never even begin to live up to expectations; he had long since lost his starting place. In Wade Phillips’ scheme, however, and with the attention that Suh and Donald require, the tide may turn for Fowler. In return, the Rams sacked backup guard Jamon Brown to create a management position for Fowler.

Fowler is in the last year of his rookie deal, the Jaguars had not pulled his contract option on the fifth year. So if the Rams want to keep him beyond this season, they’ll soon have to enter into contract negotiations.
