David Price will retain the Boston Red Sox. The left-hander officially announced on Wednesday that he would not make use of his opt-out clause and would instead spend the next four years in Boston worth 127 million dollars.

“I’m not going anywhere,” Price said before the Red Sox victory parade in Boston on Wednesday, “I want to win here. We did it this year and I want to do it again.”

Price had signed a seven-year contract worth 217 million dollars in 2015 – a record for Pitcher to date. After a few rather mixed years, Price became a star for his team in 2018.

After a 16-7 season with a 3.58 ERA, the left-hander finished his playoff thirst and finally won two games on his way to the World Series title for the Red Sox.

For the Red Sox, however, there are more potential free agents in the pipeline: Steve Pearce, Nathan Eovaldi, Craig Kimbrel and Joe Kelly could all leave the team.
