Ludwigsburg and Bonn have suffered heavy defeats in the Champions League (live on DAZN). Brose Bamberg, on the other hand, celebrated a sovereign victory against the Antwerp Giants.
With the renewed defeats Ludwigsburg and Bonn are on the last and third last place respectively of their respective group and can almost make up for their progress. Bamberg, on the other hand, are at the top of the table with their third victory in the fifth game, but Athens and Jerusalem can still pass the Germans.
Ludwigsburg started strongly in a foreign hall and led after the first half with 49:40 against BK Ventspils from Latvia. But in quarter three the giants broke in completely and saved themselves with effort into the overtime, where they could not avert the 92:93 defeat anymore.
The home game against the visitors from Venice, on the other hand, was much more sobering for the Bonners. Already after the first quarter, the Bundesliga team was 17 points behind – a lead that the home team could not catch up. The best Italian thrower in the 94:84 victory was the American Mayo with 26 points (7/13 FG).
The performance of the Bamberg band was completely different. The nine-time German champion came out of the cabin like the fire brigade and led the Antwerp Giants 30:15 after one quarter. Bamberg then managed the lead with ease and did not allow the home team from Belgium to get close. Especially Forward Stevan Jelovac had a very hot hand that evening and pushed five of his new threes through the cage for 30 points.
