Markelle Fultz of the Philadelphia 76ers has apparently split with his shooting coach Drew Hanlen. Over the summer they had tried to improve the Guard’s throw, but there still seems to be something wrong with the mechanics.
According to Alex Kennedy of Hoopshype, the two ended their collaboration three weeks ago. Previously, Hanlen seemed confident that Fultz could develop another solid jumpshot. “He’ll be fine,” he said to Yahoo! Sports after the first game of the season.
Apparently, this was not the case and the 20-year-old was dissatisfied with the result or the work of his coach. “It’ll only take a while,” he said. But the first pick of the draft from 2017 lost patience. So they don’t even seem to talk to each other anymore.
In college in Washington, Fultz threw 41.3 percent off the three-way line. Unfortunately, he missed most of his rookie season with a shoulder injury and doesn’t seem to be the same caster anymore. You can also see the lack of self-confidence in his jumper.
After having transformed at least 4 of its 13 attempts of downtown in October, the Guard has not yet tried a single litter from outside in November. In addition, Fultz has only hit 60 percent of his free throws so far, averaging 9.3 points and 3.4 assists.
