Alpine skiing: thumb dislocated! Neureuther start in Levi wobbles

Felix Neureuther suffered an injury in training on Friday. In preparation for his comeback in the alpine Ski World Cup in Levi, the German suffered a break in his right thumb and his finger was dislocated.

“I’ll probably need surgery when I get home,” Neureuther wrote on Instagram while posting a picture of himself with a splint on his right forearm. “I don’t know if I should start on Sunday, but I’ll try it!”

One year after his last World Cup victory on Sunday in the slalom of Levi, Neureuther wanted to return to the ski circus after an injury break. A few days later, the 13-time World Cup winner and three-time World Cup medallist tore his cruciate ligament in his left knee.

“The knee feels good,” says Neureuther. “I’m really looking forward to my comeback here in Levi and that I can finally race again.” However, the comeback has been in the balance again since Friday afternoon.
