Handball: Berlin threatens the end – Hanover sovereign

Defending champion Füchse Berlin has started the third qualifying round of the EHF Cup with a first leg defeat. At the Danish champion Aalborg HB the capitals lost with 29:31 (13:13). TSV Hannover-Burgdorf won their home game against Benfica Lisbon with 41:36 (26:18).

In Aalborg, the game was balanced at first, but the hosts were fresher from the break and led by three goals at times.

For the foxes, Danish international Hans Lindberg scored seven goals, with Sebastian Barthold and Mark Strandgaard Petersen the most successful scorers on the Danish side with six goals. On 25 November, the Berliners receive their opponents for the return match in the Max-Schmeling-Halle.

Hanover’s best shooter in a goal-rich game was the Dane Morten Olsen with 12 goals. On 24 November, the team will play at the decisive match in Portugal.
