MLB: Boston extends with master hero

The Boston Red Sox hold World Series MVP Steve Pearce. The First Baseman receives a new one-year contract after his first year in Boston.

Pearce will earn $6.25 million in 2019, according to Yahoo Sports.

“We are excited to get Steve back for another year because we think he is a great fit for our team,” said General Manager Dave Dombrowski about the commitment.

Pearce, who had started the year in Toronto and had already signed with several teams, outperformed the Los Angeles Dodgers in the postseason and especially in the World Series. He hit .333 with three home runs and eight RBI. All of his three hits in the series were extra basehits, and he also came four times by walk on base (.500 OBP).

It is expected that Pearce will continue to share play time with Mitch Moreland at first base. Pearce usually plays against left-handed pitcher, Moreland against right-handed pitcher.
