NFL: Redskins get Sanchez as McCoy backup

After the horror injury of Alex Smith, the Washington Redskins have reacted and hired Free Agent Mark Sanchez. Sanchez was last contracted by the Chicago Bears and will serve as a backup for quarterback Colt McCoy.

This reports NFL insider Ian Rapoport. The Redskins previously invited a number of quarterbacks to the workout, including E.J. Manuel , T.J. Yates and Sanchez.

After the horror injury on Sunday, when Alex Smith broke both the shin and the fibula, the team needed a new quarterback.

But since McCoy is seeded, Sanchez should only get playing time in case of injuries.
