Ski Alpin: Knee injury! Vonn postpones start of season

Ski star Lindsey Vonn has suffered a knee injury during training and cannot compete in the first speed races of the new World Cup season.

This was announced by the 34-year-old American on Tuesday evening. The weekend after next she misses two descents and a Super-G on her favourite track in Lake Louise (Canada).

“I fell yesterday in Super G training and injured my knee,” Vonn wrote on Twitter the day after her accident at Copper Mountain. “The good news is I don’t need surgery. The bad news is I won’t be able to drive Lake Louise.”

On the Canadian west coast Vonn has already celebrated 18 World Cup victories and the best chances this winter to approach the Stenmark record. In her last active season, the American would have to win four races to equal Sweden’s Ingemar Stenmark’s record of 86 wins.
