Ski-Alpin: Max Franz wins first downhill race of the season

Carinthian Max Franz landed a start-finish victory in Lake Louise on Saturday and won a World Cup race for the second time in his career. The World Championship bronze medallist with starting number one won the first downhill of the season ahead of Christof Innerhofer (+0.28 sec.) and Dominik Paris (0.54 sec.) from the Italian team. Fourth place went to the Upper Austrian Vincent Kriechmayr (0.57).

Franz is the first Austrian downhill winner in Lake Louise since Michael Walchhofer 2010. After 35 runners Matthias Mayer was eighth in the top ten on Saturday – ex aquo with Aksel Lund Svindal, the Norwegians so spoiled for success in Lake Louise were beaten hard this time.

Further information will follow shortly – the result at a glance.
