College Football: College Football: Historical Overtime Thriller

In college football on Saturday there was a historic 74:72 spectacle between the Texas A&M Aggies and the Louisiana State University Tigers. For the victory of the Aggies it took seven Overtimes – record in the NCAA.

From the start, the match was balanced and went into extra time after regular time. There, both teams scored so many points that they combined 146 and achieved more than ever before in a game of the Football Bowl Subdivision of the NCAA.

Only Abilene Christine and West Texas A&M scored more points in a college football match in 2008. At that time there was a 93:68 on the scoreboard at the end.

It was also the first time that both teams scored more than 70 points. Aggies’ success was determined by quarterback Kellen Monds, who played the decisive pass and six touchdown passes at 272 yards, and receiver Kendrick Rogers, who caught the final ball.

“There were two teams out there who refused to lose,” said Texas coach Jimbo Fisher after the spectacle, which spoke of the “craziest game ever”: “I completely lost track.”

And Matchwinner Rogers cheered: “These are the moments you live for. It doesn’t matter what happens to your body, you have to fight your way through it mentally.”

Less euphoric was the mood in the camp of the Tigers. They had lost to Texas A&M for the first time in 23 years. “That was a hell of an overtime, my boys have nothing to be ashamed of. You fought really hard. I’m very sorry for the boys,” says LSU coach Ed Orgeron.
