Boxing: Fury wants to donate income from wild fight

Tyson Fury wants to donate all his income from the fight against Deontay Wilder (Wed., 21.30 hrs press conference LIVE on DAZN and Sun., 3 hrs fight LIVE on DAZN). The boxer plans to use the money to combat homelessness and to help alcohol and drug addicts.

“When I get home, I will build some shelters for the homeless and provide funds for addicts,” Fury said. The training camp in California shaped his views: “I’ve always wanted to do it. But after seeing what it’s like here, I want it much more.”

California is the US state with the highest percentage of homeless people; according to the Los Angeles Times, around 55,000 people are currently without a permanent home. “That really opened my eyes. I’m leaving California a better man,” said Fury.

Now the proceeds from the Wilder-Fight are to be used for the needy: “One might think that this is a Third World country, but it is indeed a crisis situation and something should be done about it. I’m just a foreigner here, but it’s happening all over the world, especially in Britain.”

Fury is assuming a safe victory over Wilder, regardless. Either way, he doesn’t want to keep the stock market: “Money doesn’t interest me, I don’t want to become a millionaire or a billionaire. Because I’m a boxer, not a businessman.” The 30-year-old Briton can probably calculate up to nine million euros.

The showdown between Wilder and Fury will take place on December 1st at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Due to the time difference, the meeting begins on 2 December at around 3 a.m. CET. The fight can be seen in full length exclusively on the DAZN streaming portal.

In addition to various boxing events, the “Netflix des Sports” also features many other sports highlights. For example, DAZN shows matches from the Champions League, Europa League, Premier League, Primera Division, Ligue 1 and Serie A live and exclusively. A subscription costs 9.99 euros per month and can be cancelled at any time at the end of the month. Click here for the free trial month.
