The Sacramento Kings are still one of the biggest surprises of the season with a 10-10 record. But behind the scenes it should continue to bubble. Especially head coach Dave Joerger should be counted within the organization, even if GM Vlade Divac denied this again.
As Sam Amick of The Athletic reports, head coach Dave Joerger continues to run the risk of losing his job. The reason should be differences with the front office. Some weeks ago it was speculated that people in Kings management are not very happy that No.2-Pick Marvin Bagley only comes from the bank.
According to Amick, Assistant GM Brandon Williams is said to have been the main advocate for the coach’s dismissal. As a reaction Joerger is supposed to have asked Williams on Thursday that he should not attend the training. However, this is said to have been only a one-off measure.
General Manager Vlade Divac now commented on these rumors. “I told my front office staff not to deal with it,” the Serb explained in a statement. “Rather, we should focus on the development of our young and exciting team. That’s what we’re gonna do.”
Joerger is now in his third year with the Kings on the sidelines and has a 69-115 record since then. This season, Sacramento made a big leap and is eleventh in the Western Conference with a score of 10-10.
