A.J. Green’s season may have come to an end in Week 13. The wide receiver of the Cincinnati Bengals injured himself during his comeback against the Denver Broncos without any foreign influence and had to be transported off the field with a kart.
Green missed the last three games due to a toe injury. His comeback against the Broncos could have seen them perform again.
The Wideout broke his release at a play in the second quarter after only two steps and went to the ground without opponent contact. He immediately grabbed his foot and was unable to stand up on his own.
Lying on the kart, which Green took away from the field, the otherwise calm receiver showed himself emotionally and hid his face in his hands. After a few minutes the Bengals announced that the Wideout would not come back into the game.
Green was able to bypass an operation after the toe injury at a game at the end of October. If the injury is the same one that cost him part of the season last, it may now be inevitable.
The Bengals were badly shaken by injuries this season. The defeat against Denver was the sixth in the last seven games and the playoffs are a long way off. A return from Green, who is at 694 receiving yards and 6 touchdowns this season, seems unlikely.
