NBA: Coach change at the Bulls official

The Chicago Bulls have separated from head coach Fred Hoiberg and appointed Jim Boylen as their successor. The franchise announced this on Monday via press release.

“Decisions like these are never easy, but I think it is the right choice for our organization at this time,” Chicago’s Vice President John Paxson is quoted as saying.

It is important “to set the course for a positive development of our players”. This is to be achieved with the successor Boylen. The 53-year-old has worked as deputy head coach for the Bulls and is intended to be more than an interim solution. Bull are planning a long-term partnership with the former assistant to Spurs coach Gregg Popovich.

Hoiberg joined the Bulls as head coach in 2015. Under him, Chicago won 115 victories at 155 defeats. This season the Bulls are at 5-19.

“I would like to thank Fred for his dedication and efforts and for his continued commitment to our team,” said Paxson.
