Has Carmelo Anthony played his last game in his NBA career? Some people in the league apparently assume this to be the case. Meanwhile, the Rockets are still looking for a buyer for Melo.
As Brian Windhorst of ESPN reports, several executives in the NBA apparently assume that the 34-year-old’s career in the world’s best basketball league is over.
This is therefore mainly due to the weak defense of Anthony. But even at the other end of the court Melo 2018/19 could not convince in only 10 games for the Houston Rockets. His 13.4 points per game are offset by weak throw rates from the field (40.5 percent) and downtown (32.8 percent).
A few weeks ago the Rockets therefore announced that they would be separating from Anthony. Since then, the franchise has been looking for a customer, but has not yet found one.
As Kelly Iko of The Athletic announced, the Rockets Front Office continues to work closely with Anthony’s representatives. Both a dismissal and a trade are apparently being discussed, but due to NBA regulations Anthony cannot be traded until December 15th.
The interest of the NBA teams in the veteran seems to be limited at the moment. In recent weeks there has also been speculation as to whether Anthony might even move to China.
