Carmelo Anthony has not been an active part of the Houston Rockets for weeks now, but it is still unclear what will happen to the former superstar. According to The Athletic, his good friend LeBron would like to see James Melo by his side.
Although Anthony still receives a salary from the Rockets, he is no longer with the team in mutual agreement and Houston has already made the “separation” official after ten games in the season. Since the 34-year-old only signed a contract with the Rockets in the summer, he has not yet been traded – this will not be possible until 15 December.
But then there won’t be a big market for Anthony. However, LeBron should be convinced that Anthony could be a good addition for the young Lakers. According to the report, however, he has not yet demanded a trade from the team’s front office and is unlikely to do so in the future.
An anonymous member of another team questioned the sense of an Anthony commitment to the Lakers: “If LeBron really wants him, it may not matter that there is no big market for him. Magic [Johnson] should fight it. I know I would.”
Anthony played only ten games for the Rockets after his change in summer, in which he played 13.4 points and 5.4 rebounds. The ten-time All-Star, like James, has been playing in the NBA since 2003.
