In the night from Monday to Tuesday, the long-standing Buddies LeBron James and Dwyane Wade face each other on court for the last time in their careers. The King was emotional before this encounter.
“It’s hard and beautiful at the same time,” said the King after the victory over the Grizzlies. It was the last game of the Lakers before the duel against the Miami Heat and D-Wade, who will end his career after this season. “The nice part is that I’ve always loved standing on the court with my brother. Our friendship started with Draft Combine 2003. The unsightly part is that for the last time we will stand together on the floor.”
James was the no. 1 pick in 2003, which was drafted directly from high school by the Cleveland Cavaliers. Wade was chosen by the Heat in fifth place, after he had made an impressive run with Marquette into the Final Four of March Madness.
The two were rivals in the Eastern Conference until LeBron moved to South Beach in 2010 and the two led the Heat together to four finals and two championships. Last season the two played together for half a season at the Cavaliers before The Flash was traded back to Miami.
The two are considered to be one of the best duos that has ever played in the league. “I don’t know,” James said when asked what makes her bond so strong. “Sometimes the chemistry is just right and you don’t know why. It was like Carmelo (Anthony) when I was in 10th grade, it was like CP3 when I was in 12th grade and it was like D-Wade in Draft Combine,” the King continued. “Some things you just can’t explain.”
