Ski jumping: ÖSV-Adler thinks of career end

Andreas Kofler has promised a career end after his regression from the ÖSV World Cup squad to the Continental Cup of ski jumpers. The Tyrolean struggles with his results at the second highest level and questions how long he still wants to be a professional.

“It only remains for me to throw in the towel or stick to it,” Kofler told the TT. “I want to make it as professional as possible and I’ll keep looking from day to day.”

After a missed season last winter, the 34-year-old had his eye on the full attack due to a persistent autoimmune disease. But the Four Hills Tournament winner of 2010 landed in the defeated field in the last competitions of the Konti Cup in Lillehammer.

“If I’m good above the jump table, I can’t get anything together in the air, or vice versa,” Kofler explained. “It’s not the first time I’ve had one on my head. And it doesn’t seem to be over yet either.”

In addition to Kofler, the ÖSV eagles from the front row also had to contend with major problems recently. Both Michael Hayböck and Gregor Schlierenzauer were removed from the World Cup squad in order to find their way back to top form in individual training sessions.

Ex ski jumping head coach Alexander Pointner also spoke about the crisis in the Austrian team. He criticised the lack of technical training and the basic attitude towards professional sport in the ÖSV ski jumping team.
