For Thomas Dreßen and the best downhill skiers in the world, the World Cup season will end even earlier than planned.
Due to unfavourable external conditions with rain and soft slopes, the International Ski Federation FIS cancelled the Super-G in Kvitfjell, Norway, on Sunday morning.
On Friday, the World Cup finals in Cortina d’Ampezzo (March 18-22) had been cancelled without replacement due to the corona virus in Italy.
The Swiss Mauro Caviezel was presented with the small crystal ball in Kvitfjell to win the Super-G World Cup.
Pinturault in advantage before last race
He won it with three points ahead of Vincent Kriechmayr from Austria. The best German in the second fastest alpine discipline was Dreßen in ninth place.
The third placed Norwegian Aleksander Aamodt Kilde missed a great chance to extend his lead in the overall World Cup due to the race cancellation.
Kilde enters the last two races of the winter with a cushion of only 54 points on Frenchman Alexis Pinturault.
A giant slalom and a slalom are planned for the weekend in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia. Pinturault has an advantage in both disciplines.
