Coronavirus: LPGA cancels tournaments

The coronavirus continues to influence the world of sport. The Professional Women’s Golf Association is cancelling the upcoming tournaments in Singapore and Thailand.

The International Women’s Professional Golf Association (LPGA) has cancelled the two upcoming tournaments of the US Tour in Singapore and Thailand due to the corona virus on Monday.

The tournament in Singapore is one of the most prestigious events in women’s golf. The LPGA had already cancelled the event in Hainan/China ten days ago.

“Due to continuing concerns about the health of the athletes and warnings from some Asian countries not to hold any major events due to coronavirus, we have decided to cancel the LPGA Thailand and Women’s World Championship,” the association stated in a statement.

This means that the tour will take a longer break after the Australian Open in Adelaide (13-16 February). The tour continues on 19 March in Phoenix/Arizona.
