UFC star Jones makes history

Superstar Jon Jones successfully defends his Light Heavyweight Championship against Dominick Reyes. But the decision causes some trouble.

UFC superstar Jon Jones celebrated his 26th victory in the 27th fight and successfully defended his Light Heavyweight Championship.

“Bones” defeated Dominick Reyes at UFC 247 in Houston unanimously on points, the referees rated the fight 48:47, 48:47 and 49:46.

However, the clear decision of the third judge was especially annoying, after the final bell both men pulled their arms up in the feeling that they had won the fight.

UFC Boss White sees Reyes in front
“I don’t feel respected,” Reyes said regarding the 49:46 score. “I know I won the fight. I made Jon Jones look like a man. I gave him a fight.”

UFC President admitted to scoring the fight for Reyes, but there was no clear winner throughout the hall. “My children call me names and say that the outcome was clear before the fight even started. “How can this happen, Dad? Reyes won. neither of us is a judge. Judges judge the fight and that’s all,” White said.

According to ESPN statistics, Jones scored fewer hits than his opponent for the first time in the 22nd UFC fight (104:116). Still, it was enough for him to win, breaking the record for the most won title fights in UFC history.

Jones praises opponent Reyes
“Dominick did an outstanding job and deserves my total respect. It was a really close fight, but I was able to turn it around in the fifth round,” Jones said. “Now I’m part of UFC history. I didn’t want it to be easy. It was a really tough fight today.”

Reyes had to accept his first defeat in the 13th MMA fight, especially in the last two rounds he couldn’t quite keep up the great opening level.
