NFL star Ed Oliver is provisionally arrested after a police penalty picks him up. The case is about drunk driving – there is also a gun involved.
NFL star Ed Oliver uproar: Buffalo Bills defensive player Ed Oliver was pulled over on the highway in his hometown of Houston by a police penalty and then arrested.
The 22-year-old had attracted attention due to an unsafe driving style. Police found the footballer drunk and carrying an illegal firearm.
According to the police, the officers had been alerted to the defensive tackle by an emergency call. An eyewitness had reported that the NFL star had temporarily lost his lane and was driving dangerously. In addition, the 2019 rookie crashed through a construction zone with his pick-up truck, pulling a trailer with a dune buggy behind him.
Possibly other illegal substances
When the emergency services stopped the 130 kilo man, they noticed that he had clamped a beer bottle between his legs. The police searched the car and also found an illegal weapon in it.
A breathalyzer test revealed that Oliver was drunk behind the wheel of his Ford Super Duty. A local officer suspected that the NFL star may have been impaired in his driving ability by other substances. However, no drugs or medications were found by the police.
The number 9-pick of the past draft will soon have to go on trial for drunken driving and illegal possession of firearms. The Buffalo Bills have yet to comment on the incident involving their defensive player. “We are aware of the situation and are gathering further information,” the franchise said in an official statement.
Oliver scored 43 tackles and 5 sacks in his rookie season and is one of the Bills’ firm pillars for the future.
