Corona loosening for Oilers?

Edmonton – Canada’s Prime Minister is called upon to relax corona restrictions. This is the only way Edmonton could host playoff games with Leon Draisaitl in its own hall.

For possible home games of German ice hockey superstar Leon Draisaitl with the Edmonton Oilers, corona restrictions are to be relaxed in Canada.

Jason Kenney, Prime Minister of the province of Alberta, made a corresponding demand in a letter to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. According to the letter, possible easing of the restrictions should increase Edmonton’s chances to play a part of the modified play-offs of the NHL at home.

Draisaitl with Edmonton in the playoffs
“Such an exemption from the Canadian government would be necessary to allow the Oilers to host the NHL play-offs,” Kenney wrote. “The government of Alberta believes that effective risk reduction strategies are in place.

USA allows exception for professionals
At present, in the North American country, every person has to spend 14 days in quarantine after entering the country from abroad. In the USA, an exemption for professional athletes was introduced last week.

In Edmonton, a strict quarantine zone will protect players and other club personnel. All parties involved will move to hotels directly connected to the ice stadium, Kenney said.
