No sooner has Conor McGregor (once again) announced the end of his career in martial arts than he is already lured into resigning.
The sender is none other than boxing superstar Floyd Mayweather, who had entered the ring in a mega-fight against the Irishman in 2017 and defeated him by a technical knockout in the tenth round.
If I’m not mistaken, you told Mike Tyson you could beat me if we fought again. Now you step back! I thought you wanted to beat the best. If you decide to return, I’ll be ready and punish you again,” Mayweather wrote under a picture on McGregor’s Instagram account.

On it was a cake with the icing “Happy retirement daddy” (“Happy retirement, daddy”), which presumably his children gave him.
The 31-year-old had declared on Twitter in the night to Sunday: “Hey guys, I’ve decided to say goodbye to fighting. Thanks for all the incredible memories! What a ride!”

However, the resignation is to be seen under reserve, McGregor already resigned twice before supposedly to continue – like Mayweather, by the way, who is currently also officially retired for the third time.
McGregor’s supposed resignations were interpreted as a negotiating tactic to get better deals for his subsequent fights. If the UFC star were to come back and fight Mayweather again, the two sides’ fight exchanges would probably be extremely lucrative again.
