Yankees: Trump cancels first pitch

Refusal by Donald Trump. The US president cancels his planned first pitch at the MLB game of the New York Yankees against the Boston Red Sox.

US President Donald Trump will not throw the first pitch at the New York Yankees’ Major League Baseball (MLB) game on August 15th.

Trump withdrew his pledge, citing commitments to fight the corona virus, “planned meetings on vaccines, our economy and much more,” he wrote on Twitter. He would do it “at a later date”.

On Thursday Trump had stated that he had been asked by Yankees President Randy Levine to take the first throw in the home game against the Boston Red Sox.

At the opening of the MLB season the renowned US virologist Anthony Fauci had thrown the first pitch for the Washington Nationals.
