Philipp Grubauer wins his first playoffs game with the Colorado Avalanche The German international will once again be on the ice for the entire match.
Philipp Grubauer has made a successful start to the NHL playoffs with the Colorado Avalanche.
The national team goalkeeper celebrated a 3-0 victory with his franchise against the Arizona Coyotes. Grubauer played through again and only got 14 shots at his goal.
“These games aren’t easy, but the people in front of me did a really good job playing the pucks aside and letting me see every shot. I prefer these games with ten shots against us to those with 50, that much is clear,” said the 28-year-old.
Three goals in 83 seconds
Three goals within 83 seconds decided the opening game of the first round duel in the Western Conference in the last third. Nazem Kadri, J.T. Compher and Miiko Rantanen defeated Coyotes goalkeeper Darcy Kuemper (37 saves) in Edmonton.
Match two of the best-of-seven series will be played again in Edmonton on Saturday night.
Two-time Stanley Cup champion Tom Kühnhackl and goalkeeper Thomas Greiss celebrated a 4-2 win over the Washington Capitals in the east with the New York Islanders in the opening game, but neither of them was used.
