For tennis legend Rod Laver, Nick Kyrgios is the most talented player in the professional circus. However, the 22-year-old Australian still has to work on his professional attitude.
Nick Kyrgios knows that genius and madness are close together at Nick Kyrgios. The world rankings-20.shuttle between worlds: glittering victories against top stars such as Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal were followed by uninspired appearances against competitors with lesser-sounding names – as was the case at the US Open.
Travelling to New York as a Cincinnati finalist with great laurels, Kyrgios suffered a bitter first round defeat against the world’s number 183, John Millman. The reason for his moodiness was recently revealed by an emotional soul striptease.
Rod Laver, however, has only limited sympathy for his fellow countryman’s fickle nature:”He defeats Nadal in Cincinnati, then suddenly clicks his head and he doesn’t care about anything. It’s a shame,”said the eleven-time Grand Slam winner to the Independent.
Even though Kyrgios often stands in the way of his attitude, Laver is convinced of his extraordinary qualities:”Nick has more talent than anyone else on the tour. His game is incredible,”The problems and little problems will smooth out as we grow up,” says The Rocket.
