Former boxing champion Jürgen Brähmer starts into the newly created World Boxing Super Series with a home game in Schwerin.The 38-year-old fights his quarter-finals for the Muhammad Ali Trophy in super-middleweight against the unbeaten American Rob Brant (22 fights, 22 victories) on 27-27 March.October in his hometown.
“I would have fought in the States, but now I am happy that we were able to bring the fight evening to Schwerin and Germany,”said Brähmer.
At his last appearance in Schwerin in June 2014, the Stralsund-born had successfully defended his WBA title against Robert Feliciano Bolonti.Brähmer also won his first World Championship title in 2009 in the state capital of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
Promoter Kalle Sauerland, among others, launched the new World Boxing Super Series tournament.The format, which is endowed with up to 50 million dollars, kicks off with the four quarter-finals per weight class.In terms of cruiser weight, former world champion Marco Huck already failed in the round of the last eight.The semi-finals are scheduled for the beginning of 2018, the two finals for May 2018.
