NBA: Cunningham remains a Pelican

Dante Cunningham has signed a new contract with the New Orleans Pelicans – even though he dropped his player option earlier.

As his agent Joel Bell announced, Cunningham signed a one-year contract for $2.3 million salary.

Curious: At the beginning of the Free Agency he had dropped a player option at the Pels for the coming season. This would have been worth $3.1 million. The 30-year-old apparently had been looking for a long-term deal, but apparently had not received any suitable offers.

Cunningham has played for the Pels for the past three seasons, but in 2016/17 he was only able to play 66 games due to injuries. In this he played 6.6 points and 4.2 rebounds.
