NBA: Media: Melo open for trade to the Cavs or Thunder

Carmelo Anthony is said to have expanded the list of his favourite destinations for a trade.ESPN reports that the Forward had informed the New York Knicks that he would also waive his contractual no-trade clause for a change to the Cleveland Cavaliers or the Oklahoma City Thunder.Negotiations between the Knicks and the Houston Rockets had failed before.

The rockets, which had already been picked up by Point Guard Chris Paul on trade from the Los Angeles Clippers in the summer, continue to be regarded as the forwards’ preferred target. In order to facilitate a change before the start of the season, Anthony offered his franchise even more potential negotiating partners.

Also the Portland Trail Blazers, whose stars Damian Lillard and C. J.McCollum had been campaigning intensively for the Knicks star in recent weeks, could once again become a serious option. The Cleveland Cavaliers are said to have made their first telephone call, but there is no concrete offer yet.

New York’s General Manager Scott Perry is hoping for a trade that not only includes short-term contracts and draft picks, but also a wing player who can at least largely replace the 33-year-old.However, the Houston Rockets could not put together such a package.

Although Anthony is looking for a quick farewell from the Big Apple, Knicks President Steve Mills said he was confident that he would be able to go to the training camp with the Forward on Friday at the Media Day:”Our plan is that Carmelo will be present at our martketing on Monday and we will start training with him on Tuesday,”says Mills.

Anthony had been traded to New York in 2011 for Wilson Chandler, Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallinari, Timofey Mozgov, a first and two second round picks from the Denver Nuggets.Since then he played 24.7 points, 7 rebounds and 3.2 assists for the Knicks in 36 minutes.
