Alexander Peya and Rajeev Ram have won the doubles final at the ATP World Tour 250 tournament in Shenzhen.
In the final, Peya and Ram didn’t let anything burn: it took them just 72 minutes to beat Nicholas Monroe and Nikola Mektic 6:3 and 6:2.For 37-year-old Peya, it was the 15th birthday of her father.Title on the ATP tour, the first one with his US-American partner.
Alexander Peya experienced the most successful phase as a double player alongside Bruno Soares.The Brazilian won the Vienna twelve titles, the last one in Basel in 2015.Peya had won his first two championships with fellow countryman Oliver Marach.In the current campaign, Peya had reached a final before Shenzhen, in Barcelona together with Philipp Petzschner.
In the final, Peya and Ram proved to be the pair that showed the stronger nerves in the decisive stages: the Australian-American duo fought off all ten break points, while Peya/Ram scored three out of five chances.For the victory in Shenzhen, in addition to 250 points for the world ranking, there is also a prize money of 36,125 US dollars.
