ATP: Istomin to win Chengdu after short-time work

Second ATP title for Denis Istomin: The Uzbek defeated Marco Baghdatis in the final of Chengdu.The Cypriot had to give up at 2:3 in the first set.

The year 2017 began with a bang for Denis Istomin, with his success against the defending champion Novak Djokovic at the Australian Open.Now the current number 78 in the world has been top of the list at the ATP World Tour 250 tournament in Chengdu – not least because opponent Marcos Baghdatis was only on the court for five games.

Baghdatis had to give up at 3:2 for Istomin, and the Uzbeken’s second tournament win after Nottingham 2015 was on grass.With this success, Istomin will improve his position in the world ranking by 25 positions to 53rd place.Here the single panel in Chengdu
