WTA: Görges and Petkovic also failed in Beijing

Julia Görges (Bad Oldesloe) and Andrea Petkovic (Darmstadt) were the last German tennis players to be eliminated at the WTA tournament in Beijing.

Görges was defeated by Czech Barbora Strycova in the second round 4:6,2:6, Petkovic was defeated by Strycova’s compatriot Karolina Pliskova 4:6,4:6.

Before Görges (28) and Petkovic (30), who was treated on the left foot in the second set, the former world number one Angelique Kerber (Kiel/No. 12), Mona Barthel (Bad Segeberg) and Carina Witthöft (Hamburg) had already failed at the hard court event in China’s metropolis, which was endowed with 7.027 million dollars.
