ATP:”Rafa” continues in strong form

With a solid performance, Rafael Nadal won against Karen Khachanov and is in the quarter-finals at the China Open in Beijing.

The quarter-finals between Nadal and Khachanov lasted 91 minutes.In the end, the favourite from Spain clearly wins 6:3 and 6:3 against the young Russian from NextGen.

Nadal had to accept the first little wackler in his first service game.He was soon trailing 00:40 and was facing three break points.With his usual aggressiveness he resisted them and quickly found his usual rhythm.At a score of 2:1 for the Spaniard, the “bull from Mannacor” increased the pressure on Khachanov and took the break to the meanwhile 3:1.

Nadal took the early lead in the first leg and had two set points at 5-2, which Khachanov was able to fend off on his own serve.To zero Nadal took the next service game and snatched set one with 6:3.

Nadal also had some problems in the second round.Khanchanov won three break points in Nadal’s first service game, but the 21-year-old could not use them again.The answer followed promptly and the world number one from Mallorca took Khachanov’s serve in the game.Afterwards, both opponents served well before Khachanov came under pressure again with his own service.In a long serve game Nadal won three break points, which his opponent ruined with strong serve.

From this point on, Nadal didn’t burn anything more and served solidly to win the 6:3 and 6:3 match.

In the quarter-finals, the Mallorcan will now face the powerful American John Isner.The service giant left Argentina’s Leonardo Mayer with no chance in his last sixteen and deservedly won 6-0 and 6-3.
