“We are particularly pleased that such internationally renowned trainers as Günter Bresnik and Wolfgang Thiem have been actively supporting STTV with their inputs since 2016.This cooperation is certainly a successful investment in the future and once again confirms STTV’s claim to adhere to international standards”, says STTV President Barbara Muhr.
These sightings aim to discover talented girls and boys and to accompany them from a very young age on the STTV career ladder. After the examination, all children are carefully analysed by the trainer team. The parents and individual trainers receive detailed feedback on the current technical and physical performance of their students. As a further follow-up, the STTV Landesleistungszentrum in Leibnitz offers ongoing training courses to which the children are then invited.
“From the 2016 survey, two new training groups with a total of eight children have already been created this year, which are now being supervised by the STTV trainer staff. This is exactly the goal of this year’s review. We want to create a broad base of talented children that we can constantly monitor and guide them professionally on their way.I am delighted that so many parents and trainers took this great opportunity to get tips and feedback for their children this year,”says Andreas Leber, the sports director of STTV.
The forces were pooled as early as 2016 and the two top coaches Günter Bresnik and Wolfgang Thiem were brought on board as partners of STTV.Together with the STTV team of trainers, courses are also offered in addition to this Styria-wide survey in the regional training centre in Leibnitz. In addition, training courses are also held at our branch offices in the five regional performance centres. The youngest young players in Styria also benefit from their knowledge and thus experience training that meets the highest international standards. The Styrian Tennis Association (STTV) is the third largest professional association in Styria with around 25,000 members, 225 clubs and 8,000 championship players in 1,100 teams. The current number 1 of Styrian women and men are Lisa Moser and Sebastian Ofner. The children will be developed according to their age according to the physical, technical and psychological challenges of international tennis.Efforts are being made to ensure that they will be internationally competitive in all performance-determining components in the future. The trainers are currently working with a total of 30 cadre players and around 100 children are cared for in the regional performance centres.
The current Styrian shooting star Sebastian Ofner, protégé of Wolfgang Thiem and current No. 141 in the ATP world ranking with a strong trend towards the Top 100, was enthusiastic about the enthusiasm of the children.Everyone could hit a few balls with him and also get tips from the professional.Sebastian made it obviously fun to play with the little talents and to have fun together “I myself only a few years ago took the career ladder over STTV and ÖTV and it is great to see how professionally the children are introduced to competitive sports in Styria. If I can contribute something to their additional motivation today, it makes me proud,”says Ofner.
The great successes of Austria’s world-class player Dominic Thiem and the current rise of 21-year-old Styrian Sebastian Ofner have led to a noticeable upward trend in the tennis scene at home.”Our youth needs role models and I am delighted that one of them is once again a Styrian with Sebastian.Tennis is booming.Of course, we are making active use of this upswing in STTV, and the annual increase in active tennis players encourages us to continue to position tennis as an attractive sport for young and old in our extensive activities,”says STTV President Barbara Muhr.
The team of trainers is sure that from today’s perspective, some children will be able to join the STTV training operation again. There are certainly promising youngsters in Styria, one or the other of whom could follow in the footsteps of the great tennis idol in the future.
